We are excited to once again, be hosting this exclusive and informative event for our valued residential and commercial technology integrators. If you install, design, recommend, service or sell residential or commercial technology, then this is the event for you! The tour was such a great success last year, that we had no choice but to do it again this year.

We’re taking this tour across Canada, to five major cities, and bringing our vendors with us. Connect with Staub and your favourite Staub manufacturer brands in your own city and learn about their latest and greatest product offerings, in a unique and exciting setting! We guarantee that this technology tour is like none other you have attended, exposing you to a host of our best vendors and their products, all in one location!

New For 2018!

With this being the second year of the tour, we have decided to kick things up a notch. If you attended the tour last year, you know that it was a fun and information-packed day with great vendors and their products in a cool and unique setting. Read on to find out all the new things we have scheduled for the 2018 tour.

More Days = More Options

This year we have added an extra day on the Monday evening and kept the Tuesday morning session (*Toronto will feature a Tuesday afternoon session as well. See Event Schedule below). Choose whichever session best suits your schedule, or if you want, you can attend the tour on both days! See the Event Schedule section for more information.

Awesome Workshops

Get more in-depth product information and technical training on the industry’s latest solutions and challenges with our Awesome Workshops! Each Plug Into Awesome Tour location will feature three different workshop options (the same workshop sessions will be available on the Monday evening and Tuesday morning in each city). Choose from a URC Total Control 2.0 session, a session from Cleerline Technology Group on fiber optic cable and a session on music streaming and multi-room audio from Autonomic Controls. Attend as many of the workshops as you can, while visiting the vendor exhibits in between sessions. With two workshop days to choose from (the Monday evening and Tuesday morning) you will have plenty of time to fit in visiting the vendor exhibits and attending the workshops. Event Format

In each city, the technology event will run from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on the Monday night and from 8:00am – 12:00pm on the Tuesday morning (*except for Toronto, which will also include an afternoon session on the Tuesday – see Event Schedule to the right). This will allow you plenty of time to visit with each vendor in their awesome booth setting, attend workshop sessions and enjoy some time at the Awesome Hour! Each vendor will have their own suite within the hotel as their booth location, with products to view and representatives available to answer your questions. Visit each vendor suite at your leisure and leave with a new wealth of product knowledge at the end of the day.

All workshop sessions will run for approximately 45 minutes. As each session can only seat 30 people at a time, please register only for the sessions that you will attend. Cleerline SSF™ Fiber Optic Cables and Connectivity Products

Data transmission over category cable in Residential and Commercial AV has reached a critical bottleneck. While we should all be transmitting 4K @ 60HZ video with HDR at 18Gb, we are limited by copper. Integrators are still battling with HDMI 2.0, even when the new HDMI 2.1 standard at up to 48GB has been released! HDR results in more and better color – by a factor of 10 or more – but this level of color transmission cannot be handled by copper. Beyond video, we all work with copper cables in our networks, and the same extreme demands are being placed on these systems. Simply put, the industry is in the middle of a shift, and fiber optic cabling is the answer. If you don’t address this change now, you will be left behind.

Learn about today’s needed fiber optic cabling and infrastructures that provide signal transmission with no latency or constraints on data. This course focuses on fiber optic cable and how easily it can be installed, terminated, and tested. We will also discuss devices – now available and affordable - that utilize fiber to transmit uncompressed signals at 18Gb, 48Gb, and beyond. SSF™ technology has improved traditional glass fiber, allowing up to 10,000x the bend and 2 to 3 times the pull force over traditional fiber, and with even greater strength than category cable. The Presenter
The presenter of the workshop is Rick Sant, Managing Partner of Cleerline Technology Group. Rick’s experience in the industry encompasses over 20 years of running and managing successful AV Integration firms. Seven years ago, Rick and his partners at Cleerline recognized the industry needed to begin the switch to a better form of signal connectivity. In doing so, Cleerline Technology Group developed and redefined fiber optic cable with their SSF™ cable product. Rick’s integration background allows him to quickly communicate in non-technical terms the need for fiber, the fact that it is now a necessity, and how every integration firm can benefit from deploying and installing fiber optic cables in their current systems.


Total Control 2.0 - Premium Whole-House Automation and Control

The focus of this workshop is on the Total Control 2.0 automation platform including system requirements from a hardware perspective and the complimentary components available from URC such as networking, audio and lighting. A general overview of the programming environment for Accelerator 2.0 will be covered as well as third party product integration - overview of Total Control working with category leaders such as lighting, security and environmental control. In addition, best sales practices for presenting Total Control 2.0 to prospective clients will be covered as well as the advantages of Total Control 2.0 versus competitive automation platforms.

Presentation Details

  • Focus will be on highlights of the various aspects of Total Control
  • General overview of programming environment and efficiencies realized with Accelerator 2.0
  • Discussion of effective sales points implemented by successful integrators
  • Comparison of Total Control to main competitors in the automation space; C4, Savant, etc.

This workshop is a great opportunity to learn about the enhancements of Total Control realized with the 2.0 release. Attendees will receive insight into how Total Control will compliment/expand their existing business opportunities. The presentation will illustrate the flexibility and scalability of the platform and how it can be applied into diversified applications.

The Presenter
The presenter of the workshop is Timothy Brendlin; URC Sales Engineer. Timothy has an extensive background in programming multiple automation platform such as URC, C4 and Crestron. He has held positions with multiple integrators as a programmer and installation technician and has experience with a broad base of third party automation products/platforms and best practices to incorporate each into the Total Control environment.

The Presenter
The presenter of the workshop is Matthew Kamp, Product Management Director for Audio at Snap AV. In this role, Matthew develops go-to market strategies and product development for Episode and Autonomic Solutions. Before joining the SnapAV team, Matthew was the Product Manager and Mechanical Engineer for NCR Corporation where he designed hardware solutions for the Hospitality and Retail markets. Key product responsibilities included servers, kitchen production systems, venue POS (Point of Sale), digital signage media players, cash drawers, PC peripherals and other specialty devices.
